(Greenwood, S.C., February 9, 2018) On January 17, 2018, Sumeer Lal, M.D., performed a sacroiliac fusion using the SI-Bone® iFuse Implant System® for the treatment of sacroiliac (SI) joint pain in the lower back. It was the first iFuse implant procedure performed in the Lakelands.
The iFuse implant is intended for sacroiliac fusion for conditions including sacroiliac joint dysfunction, as a direct result of sacroiliac joint disruption and degenerative sacroiliitis, an inflammation of one or both of the sacroiliac joints situated where the lower spine and pelvis meet.
Dr. Summer Lal stated, “With more than 25,000 procedures performed and multiple published studies demonstrating not only the safety of the procedure, but its clinical results as well, the iFuse is certainly the method of choice for SI joint fusion. We’re thrilled to offer this new option of relief to the community.”
