(Greenwood, S.C., April 30, 2024) A group of nine area non-profits have received funding for various initiatives through Self Regional’s Community Health Committee.
Beyond Abuse received funds in the amount of $92,000 to supplement five full-time staff positions.
Meg’s House received $52,568 to provide housing and supportive services that reduce the impact of domestic violence and chronic homelessness in the communities they serve.
Community Initiatives was granted $145,000 to fund the G.R.O.W. 2024 (Goals for Resources, Outreach, and Well-being) project that will provide community health and well-being programs for every client while increasing treatment, prevention, and early detection of health conditions.
Greenwood County Food Bank received $36,000 to fund projects that will reduce hunger and promote health and wellness in the communities of the Lakelands.
$40,000 was given to Healthy Learners to provide 450 low-income, underserved children with services like: Vision Care, Dental Care, Hearing Evaluation and Care, Asthma Care, Health Care, Mental/Behavioral Health Care, Coordination of Care, Transportation to Appointments, Payment of Medical Fees, Health Screenings, Youth Mental Health First Aid Training, and Assistance with Medicaid Applications.
Laurens County Cancer Foundation was granted $32,000 to provide quality-of-life services to those facing the uncertainties of cancer in Laurens County through education and direct services.
Next Level Lifestyles received $45,000 to fund an HVAC system and added transportation to continue providing services and positive influence to the youth in our community through athletics, physical fitness and mentorship.
Greater Greenwood United Ministries requested and was granted $117,000 for the in-house pharmacy and pharmacist.
Boys and Girls Club received $25,000 to expand program services to middle school youth ages 11-13 and begin serving them in the STARZ24 Teen Center.
