(Greenwood, S.C., October 10, 2016)- Three new members have been welcomed to the Self Regional Healthcare Board of Trustees. Mamie Nicholson, Program Officer of The Self Family Foundation; David Tompkins, Senior Vice President and Greenwood Market Executive of Countybank; and Robert Tiller, MD, Program Director of the Self Regional Healthcare Family Medicine Residency Program were appointed by South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley to serve six-year terms on the board.
Individuals who serve on the Self Regional Healthcare Board of Trustees possess a varied skillset and a gift for civic leadership. The group is entrusted with choosing the best strategic course for the organization and for the future of healthcare in the region.
“We are very pleased to welcome Mamie, David and Robert to the Self Regional Board of Trustees,” said Board Chairman Len Bornemann. “All three individuals have proven their commitment to leadership and to the betterment of the community through their time and effort with various groups and organizations. We look forward to seeing their talents utilized to continue our goal of improving health in the Lakelands.”
About the New Board Members
Mamie W. Nicholson
Mamie W. Nicholson, Program Officer at The Self Family Foundation.
Mamie is Program Officer at The Self Family Foundation. She is a Greenwood native, graduate of Greenwood High School, Piedmont Technical College, Limestone College and the Council on Foundations Institute for New Staff.
She is also a graduate of Leadership Greenwood, Leadership South Carolina, the SC Diversity Leaders Initiative at Furman University and the Rotary Leadership Institute.
Mamie currently serves as a member of the Board of the Greenwood County Community Foundation and the Rotary Club of Greenwood. She also serves as a member of the Nonprofit Council, Community Indicators Funding Partners Team and the Women’s Leadership Council Steering Committee.
She has previously served as a Lander University Trustee, United Way of Greenwood & Abbeville Counties Board member, board chair and campaign chair, SC State Election Commission member, Lander Foundation Board member, Piedmont Technical College Business Advisory Committee member, SC Downtown Development Association board member, Leadership SC board member, SC National Heritage Corridor board member and Greenwood Area Habitat for Humanity board member. She has also served on the CapitalBank Community Advisory Board, the Healthy Learners Greenwood Advisory Board, United Center for Community Care Founding Board of Directors and Healthy Greenwood Neighborhoods Board.
She was named a 2010 Small Business Champion for Women in Business by the Small Business Administration.
Mamie is a member of the Greenwood Rotary Club where she serves as a board member and is a Paul Harris Fellow. She is a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church where she serves as a deaconess and Sunday school teacher.
She is married to Senator Floyd Nicholson and they have three sons Antonio (Tameka), Anthony (Nancie) and Floyd Michael. She is the daughter of Elnora Williams Jennings and the late Jesse Williams.
David A Tompkins
David A. Tompkins, Senior Vice President and Greenwood Market Executive for County Bank.
David began his career with Countybank in 1996 and is Senior Vice President and Greenwood Market Executive. In this role, David develops and leads market-specific strategies and sales efforts as well as coordinating business development efforts among Countybank’s family of financial services.
David is a graduate of Lander University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in business Administration. He is a 2014 graduate of the American Bankers Association Stonier Graduate School of Banking at the University of Pennsylvania.
David currently serves on the Board of Greenwood Area Chamber of Commerce, Self Regional Healthcare Foundation and Hospice Care of the Piedmont. He previously served as Board Chair for the Greenwood Area Chamber of Commerce and the Greenwood Family YMCA. He is a member of the Emerald City Rotary Club.
David resides in Greenwood with his wife, Casey and their two sons, Liam and Max.
Robert J. Tiller, MD
Robert J. Tiller, MD, Program Director of the Self Regional Healthcare Family Medicine Residency Program.
Dr. Robert J. Tiller joined the teaching faculty of the Self Regional Healthcare Family Medicine Residency Program in 2001 and currently serves as the Program Director. Dr. Tiller oversees the training of the thirty family medicine resident physicians as well as the program’s accreditation and curriculum. The resident physicians work within the hospital and conduct the outpatient portion of their training at the Montgomery Center for Family Medicine.
Dr. Tiller holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Chemical Engineering and enjoyed a brief career as a process development engineer with Eli Lilly, a large pharmaceutical manufacturer. He then earned his Doctor of Medicine from the Indiana University School of Medicine. He is currently board certified in Family Medicine with additional boarding in Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Tiller previously served as President of the Self Regional Healthcare Medical Staff.
Dr. Tiller resides in Greenwood County with his wife Julie. They are parents of four children, David, Abigail, Joel and Ben.
