Community AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) Grant Program for 2015
(Greenwood, SC – March 23, 2015.) The Self Regional Heart and Vascular Center is launching a community-based Automatic External Defibrillator, or AED, grant program. Our goal is to increase awareness of what to do in a cardiac emergency, train more people on how to perform hands-only CPR and to equip various facilities in the area with AEDs in case of an emergency.
We invite Lakelands area community members to fill out a grant application submitting their organization for the program.
For 2015, 10 AEDs are available through this grant program. All types of organizations are encouraged to apply, regardless of size or service, however submission of the application does not guarantee approval of the AED. Grant applications will be reviewed based on criteria that will be set forth by our AED program committee comprised of physicians, community liaisons, and members of our Heart and Vascular Center. Only organizations or businesses located in the Lakelands region of SC (Greenwood, Laurens, Edgefield, Abbeville, McCormick, Saluda and Newberry counties) are eligible for the grant.
We invite community members to fill out a grant application submitting their organization for the program.
Applications will be accepted from March 30, 2015 through April 30, 2015 extended to May 8, 2015 and the approved recipients will be notified and invited to a special training session in June at Self Regional.
For additional information, please contact Sheryl Scurry, Self Regional Heart and Vascular Center AED Grant Program Coordinator, at (864) 725-4739 or via email at Sheryl.scurry@selfregional.org.
If your facility already has an AED, please let us know at the contact information above, so we can compile a list of all organizations that are AED equipped. If your facility is interested in CPR/AED training, please contact Sheryl to discuss training opportunities.
