(Greenwood, S.C., June 1, 2021) Greater Greenwood United Ministry, United Way of the Lakelands and Community Initiatives, Inc’s La Clinica Gratis/The Free Clinic applied for and were awarded grant funds from Self Regional Healthcare’s Community Health Committee to continue improving their respective care programs.
The Greater Greenwood United Ministry received $111,890 to continue support of their many specialized services including dental clinic, diabetes management and the recently added Women’s Health Clinic, where patients will receive basic health screenings, breast examinations and Pap testing. The GGUM also offers primary medical, internal medicine, gynecological care and an on-site Pharmacy for the convenience of the patients served.
La Clinica Gratis/The Free Clinic of Community Initiatives, Inc., a medical home for uninsured individuals, received $210,000 from Self Regional, to support the expansion of their service offerings to include screenings for the social determinants of health in each of the five counties served, support of their emergency assistance care management program created to address food, housing and utility needs for patients and clients, as well as supply medical providers and key staff with diagnostic medical equipment and PPE.
United Way of the Lakelands (UW) brings together people and resources to fight poverty and strengthen our entire community by changing individual lives. Self Regional gifted $60,000 to United Way to support the building of the Greenwood Counts Community Consortium as they work to improve health outcomes through available health data and health initiatives within our community.
