Beyond Abuse, Greater Greenwood United Ministry and Hospice Care of the Piedmont applied for and were awarded grant funds from Self Regional Healthcare’s Community Health Committee to continue improving their respective care programs.
CNL’s have trained to provide clinical leadership for bedside care and can also oversee the safe and effective delivery of high quality care by all other nursing staff. Additionally, they promote patient-centered care, improve patient outcomes, collaborate with physicians and assure proper coordination of care throughout the healthcare system.
High School students in our community will become the workforce of the future. Promoting healthcare careers early inspires students to develop the skills and attitudes that will lead to a successful career in healthcare.
Each year since 1974, the Self Regional Healthcare Auxiliary’s largest fundraising event, Lights for Love, has invited the community to make donations in memory or honor of those who are significant in their lives.

Each year one upstate hospital hosts the event and partners with other healthcare organizations to support and present new information to those who work in the cardiology field and with STEMI (ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction) patients, who have endured very serious heart attacks.
At a ceremony on September 27, Courtney Furman, chairman of the Self Regional Healthcare Foundation and Ken Coffey, executive director of the Self Regional Healthcare Foundation, presented a check for $170,000 to PTC President Dr. Ray Brooks and Health Care Dean Tara Harris. The funds will be used to help support the nursing curriculum at PTC and to address the immediate need for additional faculty to serve students majoring in the college’s nursing programs.
The Governor’s Award is given to organizations that show exemplary progress towards implementing the Baldrige Performance Excellence Criteria and are role models for others in the state.
Three donations totaling over $100,000 were presented individually to Healthy Learners Greenwood, Greenwood Food Bank and the Boeing Center for Children’s Wellness at MUSC to further support efforts for community outreach.
