The event includes free diabetes assessments and screenings, information from our Diabetes Educators, refreshments, and a proclamation by mayor Welborn Adams.

Pretty in Pink, the area’s largest breast cancer awareness celebration, is back for a third year with a revamped program that is designed to help screen low-income women for breast cancer. The event will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at the Greenwood American Legion at 5:30 p.m. and is a ticketed event.

The tournament will be named the Self Regional Healthcare Foundation Women’s Health Charity Classic, to be held May 5-11, 2014, at The Links at Stoney Point golf course in Greenwood, S.C.

Greenwood resident and ovarian cancer survivor Dianne Morgan will be presenting a special ovarian cancer awareness event on Sunday, September 22 together with representatives from the South Carolina Ovarian Cancer Foundation. The event will include an educational program designed to teach women about the cancer and factors that may elevate the risk for developing ovarian cancer.
Following several years of cost-cutting initiatives, Self Regional Healthcare has announced a board-approved average rate reduction of 5 percent for its fiscal year beginning Oct. 1, 2013. The rate reduction is most significant for outpatient laboratory and imaging services, which will have a 10 percent and 15 percent reduction in charges, respectively.
Self Regional is joining the American Cancer Society of Greenwood to present a ground-breaking study called CPS-3, or Cancer Prevention Study-3, to the residents of the Lakelands. CPS-3 is a long-term, national cancer research study managed by the American Cancer Society. Two dates are being offered: August 27 and 29.
The Self Regional Healthcare Foundation hosted its annual nursing scholarship luncheon in late June and awarded seven local students scholarships for a combined amount of $7,000.
Lorraine Angelino of Greenwood has assumed the volunteer post of Rotary International district governor for 2013-2014 as of July 1. Angelino works in Information Systems and Technology at Self Regional Healthcare.
