The building formerly known as the American Legion has a new name- Lander’s Self Regional Healthcare Nursing Skills Simulation Center (NSSC). The two long-affiliated organizations hosted a grand opening of the NSSC on Tuesday, Nov. 22, marking a new milestone in their years-long relationship.
Self Regional Healthcare’s Board of Trustees has welcomed three new members. Jerry Stevens, SVP and Market President for First Citizens Bank; S. Lindsey Clarke, MD, Self Regional Healthcare, Family Medicine Provider; and Vinetta Goodwin Witt, Ph.D., Newberry College, Chair of the Social and Behavioral Sciences Department, retired, were appointed by South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster to serve a six-year term on the board.

We are happy to announce that yesterday, September 15, 2022, a very important safety measure was installed at our ECC. Our Emergency Department is now protected by a Concealed Weapon Detection (CWD) system. This state-of-the-art technology uses advanced sensors and artificial intelligence to detect a wide range of concealed weapons on a visitor entering the ECC.
Beginning Monday, September 19, Self Regional Healthcare Drive-Through Services will begin offering the bivalent COVID-19 booster shot to those 12 and older; this is the shot that protects against the Omicron variant.
“Affiliations are not unusual,” stated Rod Boula, AAMC Interim CEO. “Factors such as low reimbursement rates, increased and very complex regulation, reduced patient volumes, and increased amounts of free and reduced cost uncompensated care are affecting both small and large hospitals nationwide. Affiliation is one way we can work together with other healthcare organizations to reduce cost and continue to provide the most convenient, quality healthcare possible.”
Through this affiliation, Self Regional will work collaboratively with MUSC Health to advance the expertise of clinical staff via mentoring related the latest technologies and procedures in cardiovascular surgical care.
