What to Expect on the Day of Your Mobile Mammogram:
During a mammogram, your breasts are compressed between two firm surfaces to spread out the breast tissue. An X-ray then captures images which are examined by a radiologist who looks for any abnormalities. The following is what you can expect during an appointment to our mobile mammography vehicle.
- Arrive at our mobile mammography van at your designated appointment time. Our staff will escort you to a completely private dressing area. Staff will go over a brief personal history and have you sign any necessary paperwork.
- You will then be provided with a gown and asked to undress from your waist up and remove any deodorants or powders. From your dressing room, you will be able to walk directly into the exam room.
- Our technologist will then perform routine images and check the images for technical accuracy. You will then be allowed to redress in your dressing room. Afterwards, staff will escort you off of the bus and you can continue your day!
What to Expect After Your Mammogram:
After images are made of both your breasts, you may be asked to wait while the technician checks the quality of the images. Afterward, you may dress and resume normal activity.
- Our radiologists will interpret your mammogram within 2-4 business days.
- If you require additional imaging, our staff will call you to schedule an appointment at the Imaging Center for those additional images.
- If your results are normal and require no further imaging, we will send you a letter in the mail and your report will be released to your designated physician.
